Michigan Driver Responsibility Law

There is clear proof that shows a connection between one's driving record and the likelihood that individual will be involved in an auto accident. Michigan has an obligation to do all it can to keep our streets safe. One of the ways that Michigan attempts to limit "High-Risk-Drivers" from being a danger to the public is through the "Driver Responsibility Law."

Points assessments are assessed once annually for drivers who accumulate and maintain seven or more points on their driving record. Drivers will be assessed each year in which seven or more points remain.

Additional information about the Driver Responsibility Fee law and printable forms are available on this website. To obtain information regarding your driving record contact the Michigan Department of State at telephone number 1-888-SOS-MICH (1-888-767-6424).
